ESSA is currently responsible for the development and maintenance of the Prognosis Interface used in BC and Ontario. This Windows-based interface consists of three components:
- DataProg: a data translator used by the BC model, which changes a machine-readable data file into an inventory-based input treelist (initial stand conditions) that can be used by Prognosis.
- SimProg: an interface that controls the simulations. This component allows users to define the site information, management options, initial conditions, regeneration options, and other run options. It then launches the simulation, and allows users to view stand-level summary output graphs, tables and create stand visualizations using SVS.
- ViewProg: a graphical report generator which lets users view more details about one or more simulations at a time. Using this tool users can graph the stand structure by species and diameter class, or can display graphs of species change over time.
