ESSA  was retained by a Multi-lateral Development Bank (MDB) and the Project sponsor to act as the Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC) to perform an environmental and social due diligence  review of the 165 MW Hydropower Project (Project) that was proposed for financing by the MDB. Activities included: (1) summarizing the most relevant characteristics of the Project related to environmental, social, and health and safety aspects based upon a review of existing information and a site investigation; (2) identify gaps with project design and related ESIA documentation against MDB and other international standards (e.g. IFC PS2 Labor and Working Conditions); and (3) present actions needed to be completed by the key Project milestones to ensure continued compliance of the project with the MDB’s policies and relevant international standards.
