ESSA has been engaged with the African Development Bank to design and develop a results-based monitoring and evaluation framework for the implementation of their Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP). The purpose of the Framework was to provide an effective means to track, assess, revise, and report on Bank climate change investments with an aim to build climate resilience and promote low carbon development throughout Africa.

In consultation with technical, sectoral and regional staff, key indicators and targets for climate resilient development in Africa were identified. Indicators were selected based on SMART criteria (specific, measureable, attributable, relevant and time-bound) as well as alignment with other global climate change results-based frameworks.

A training program on the M & E Framework was developed and piloted in Tunis, Abidjan and Pretoria.
